Since its founding in 1979, Hyundai Special Steel has made significant contributions to the industrial development of Korea and other nations by producing quality specialty steel product including CHQ wire, CD bar and STS bar through unwavering pursuit of quality and innovation. In 1984, Hyundai Special Steel became the first steelmaker in Korea able to produce Cold Heading Quality(CHQ) wire and has since maintained leadership in Korea’s specialty steel market, supplying quality products that have helped make Korean businesses even more globally competitive. Hyundai Special Steel is the nation’s largest producer of CD bar and STS bar. It operates CDM 4B, the largest production facility for CD bar production. Hyundai Special Steel is producing in its Pohang Works a variety of specialty steel products ranging from CHQ wire to CD bar and STS bar products that are used for parts in many industries including automobiles, construction, electronics, machinery, and shipbuilding. Its annual production capacity is 400,000 tons. All of Hyundai Special Steel’s products are produced in strict compliance with ISO/TS 16949, the world’s most acknowledged automotive industry certification approved by the ISO (International Standard Organization) and administered by the IATF (International Automotive Task Force). After merged to Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Special Steel made a new start in January 2015 as a manufacturer that specializes in the production of CHQ wire, CD bar, and STS bar.
